He was a graduate of Crisfield High School class of 1960 and attended the Baltimore Institute. A formidable local businessman, he was the former project director for the Somerset County Community Action Agency, but was most notable as the founder and owner of Landmark Insurance and Financial Group in Princess Anne. The betterment of his community, however, was always at the forefront and he was instrumental in many facets of the growth and progression of Somerset County as a whole. He embraced change instead of fearing it and worked tirelessly to make his community a better place for everyone. He founded and was involved with numerous community events and organizations including Crisfield Area Chamber of Commerce, National Hard Crab Derby, J. Millard Tawes Crab & Clam Bake, Somers Cove Yacht Club, Great Hope Golf Course, Tri-County Council, Somerset County Economic Development Commission, Crisfield Heritage Foundation, Somerset County Maritime & Industrial Committee, Chesapeake Bay Commission, Tangier Sound Country Music Festival, Crisfield Jaycees, and Lower Shore Sheltered Workshop.
His hobbies included golfing, and boating and fishing with his family.
