Obituary

Charles Farrell Butler, 84, of Crisfield and formerly of Columbia, MD passed away at his home on Wednesday, May 11, 2016.

Born in Crisfield on February 24, 1932, he was a son of the late Clifton H. Butler, Sr. and Anna Harrison Butler. His wife, Carol Jean Denton Butler preceded him in death in 1997.

Charles graduated from Crisfield High School Class of 1949 and later graduated from Salisbury University which was then Salisbury State.

He served in the United States Army during the Korean War and retired from the federal government after 30 years. While living in Baltimore, he was a member of the VFW, ACLU, and the American Legion. He was a great reader and enjoyed studying history. He also enjoyed collecting coins and traveling.

He will be lovingly remembered by his daughter, Julie Ann Butler and two sisters, Sarah Gerald and Jo Wooster all of Crisfield.

Along with his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Robert Charles Butler; brothers, Clifton H. Butler, Jr. who was killed in World War II, Richard Butler, Oliver "Bunny" Butler, and Elmo "Tommy" Butler; sisters, Virginia Cox, Allene Lord, June Evans, and Kay Linton; and two other siblings that died in infancy.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
