"Buffy" Landon, Jr.
April 18, 1935 – August 22, 2024
Charles Henry Landon, Jr., affectionately known as "Buffy", 89, of Crisfield, passed away to his Heavenly Home on Thursday, August 22, 2024 from his daughter, Marilyn Waters home.
Born and raised in Crisfield, he was the son of the late Charles Henry Landon, Sr., Mary Delores Landon, and Margaret Peggy Landon.
Buffy was a graduate of Crisfield High School class of 1955 and served in the Maryland National Guard at Crisfield, Company L, for nine years.
He went to work for Railway Express Agency for 19 years. Upon their closing, he had the desire to work on the water. He was the Captain of the Denise Dawn, harvesting soft shell clams, and later was the proud owner and Captain of the Miss Carolyn charter fishing vessel. In the winter months he was a dedicated driver for Tawes Brothers Oil Company.
Buffy had a great love for fishing and also enjoyed hunting, growing things in his garden in his backyard, bowling, playing 500 Rummy, and talking to family and friends. The real lights of his life were his wife, three daughters, and his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 64 years, Carolyn Anderson Landon; three daughters, Betsy Butler and husband Wes, Marilyn Waters and late husband Bill Waters, and Buffy Lynn Adams and husband Gill; grandchildren, Eric Butler and wife Tanya, Jason Butler and wife Sarah, Sunny Lowe and husband Dan, Landon Williams and wife Jada, Dalton Adams and fiance Maura Dean, Ashley Michaels and husband Chad, and Natalie Adams; great-grandchildren, Caitlyn and Layla Butler, Georgia Lowe, Levi and Layne Williams, Skyler, Eli, and Oliver Michaels, and Rhylen and Scarlett Prettyman; his special friends, Bill Charnick and John Tawes; several nieces and nephews; and a host of friends and relatives.
In addition to his parents and his son-in-law, he was preceded in death by five sisters, Delores Kundt, Ellistene Ennis, Mina Rae Gunter, Erma Price, and Vi Vierling.
A graveside funeral service and interment will be Wednesday, August 28, 2024 at 2 PM at Sunnyridge Memorial Park. Rev. Bob Daniels will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to First Baptist Church, 1 S. Somerset Avenue, Crisfield, MD 21817.
