Obituary

CHARLES W. BISHOP, 78, of the Rehobeth area of Westover, died Wednesday, June 10, 2009 at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury.

Born in Pocomoke City on January 11, 1931, he was a son of the late Raymond and Daisey Brittingham Bishop.

A 1948 graduate of Pocomoke High School, and a US Navy Korean War veteran, he was a retired poultry farmer. He also was a retired parts manager for Stevenson's John Deere in Pocomoke where he worked 30 years.

He was a member of Green Hill Church of the Brethren and most recently had been attending the First Baptist Church in Crisfield. He was a Boy Scout Troop Leader for seven years, and enjoyed hunting and RV traveling. In addition, he was known as the neighborhood "Mr. Fix-It"; he loved "tinkering" on the many items brought to him for repair.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Doreene Mahan Bishop of Rehobeth; five children, Vicky Bishop Ford and husband Bunky of Marion, Charles Steven Bishop and wife Cathy of Cordova, Glen William Bishop and wife Gladys Jane of Marion, David Olan Bishop and wife Paula of Suffolk, VA, and Cindy Bishop Dize and husband Bill of Rehobeth; six grandchildren, Jeremy Bishop, Emily Ford Larmore, Russell Ford, Jason Dize, Elaine Dize and Derek Dize; twin great-grandchildren, Colton and Jillian Larmore; a brother, Arthur Lee Bishop of New Church, VA; and many nieces and nephews.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Emily Bishop Lockfaw and a brother, Raymond Bishop, Jr.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, June 14, 2009 at 2 PM at Bradshaw & Sons Funeral Home in Crisfield where friends may call one hour prior to the service. Pastor Tad Maroon will officiate. Interment will follow in Pitts Creek Baptist Cemetery in Pocomoke City.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are requested to be sent to the Alzheimer's Association, 209C Milford Street, Salisbury, Maryland 21804 or the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 163, Salisbury, Maryland 21803-0163.
