She was the devoted wife of John Wheatley, Sr. and loving mother to Garland Lockhart and her husband, Steve of Westminster, Torie Webb and her husband Danny of Westover, MD, Michael Wheatley and his wife Billie of Marion Station, Step Mother to John Wheatley, Jr. of Marion Station and Mary Wheatley of Baltimore; adoring grandmother to nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild all of whom she truly cherished. Aaron Wheatley (whom she raised as her own) D. J. Webb of Marion, Courtney Lockhart of Orlando, FL, Cole, Jared and Adam Lockhart of Westminster, Justin Dorrier and Mackenzie "Precious" Wheatley of Marion, Michelle Wheatley of Spotsylvania, VA and Cayden "Noodle" Thomas of Mt. Vernon. She also leaves behind a brother and sister-in-law who were truly her heart, Ray and Gwen Bartlett of Dundalk. Marie was the daughter of the late Garland and Catherine Marshall.

Also preceding her in death is her brother, Butch Bartlett, and sisters Edna Conley and Patricia Owens. Following cremation a memorial service will be held on Sunday, June 29, 2008 at 3 PM at the Marion Baptist Church, Marion Station, MD. Pastor Joe Barnes will officiate.

Marie adored all the flowers she received in her lifetime and asked that none be sent after her passing. The family request that donations be made in her honor of Marie to Coastal Hospice, P. O. Box 1733, Salisbury, MD 21802-1733 or the Marion Baptist Church youth or building fund, 5833 Crisfield Highway, Marion Station, MD 21838.
