Catherine Lydia Mahan Riggin, 92, of Westover, died Saturday, June 5, 2021 at Snow Hill Nursing Home.
Born on March 13, 1929 in Crisfield, she was raised in the Rehobeth area of Westover and was the daughter of the late Walter and Chloa Kreider Mahan. Her husband, Leroy "Barney" Riggin, died January 19, 1999.
She was a graduate of Marion High School class of 1947. In addition to being a homemaker, she was a poultry farmer, crab pot maker, and provided home health care.
Over the years she enjoyed volunteering with the Somerset Ruritan and was talented at Caning Furniture such as chairs and rockers.
She is survived by her children, Holly D. Love (Vernon) and Garry T. Daugherty, all of Rehobeth; her siblings, Patricia Bucher, of Pennsylvania, Doreen Bishop of Rehobeth, and Martha Schrock (Cecil) of Westover; her foster brother, Eddie Hall (Gayle) of Girdletree; her sisters-in-law, Pat Mahan of Princess Anne and Louise Mahan of Florida; her grandchild, Stacy Hatfield (Tina); her great-grandchildren, Nicholas Hatfield and Carly Hatfield; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Lou Beecham in 2003; her sister-in-law, Peggy Daugherty; her siblings, Donald Mahan, Grant Mahan, Philip Mahan, Daniel Mahan, Lillus Nelson, Priscilla Ward, and Dorothy Mahan; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Curtis Bucker, Charles Bishop, Dicky Ward, Marge Mahan, and Betty Mahan.
A graveside funeral service officiated by Rev. Eddie Daniels will be Wednesday, June 9, 2021 at 11 AM at the Mahan Family Cemetery on Back Shelltown Road.
