CARROLL WALTERS, JR., 78, of Deal Island, died Sunday, June 28, 2009 at his home.

Born on Deal Island on November 22, 1930, he was the son of the late Benjamin Carroll Walters, Sr. and Alice Twigg Walters.

A graduate of Deal Island School, he was the owner of Carroll Walters Seafood. He was also very proud that he was a US Army Korean War veteran. He was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church, Deal Island-Chance Lions Club, and was a charter member of the Deal Island-Chance Fire Department.

He was an avid collector of glassware, and an avid fan of the Baltimore Orioles and Washington Redskins. He touched the heart and was loved by everyone who knew him, and continued his mother's legacy with his kind and generous heart.

He is survived by his sister, Elizabeth Eleanor White of Salisbury; and numerous special nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great-great-nieces and nephews.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Melissa Walters, Anne Walters Webster, and Florence Walters Abbott.

A celebration of his life will be held Thursday, July 2, 2009 at 3 PM at St. John's United Methodist Church on Deal Island where friends may call one hour prior to the service. The Rev. Samuel Horner will officiate. Interment with military honors will be Monday, July 6, 2009 at 11 AM at the Eastern Shore Veterans Cemetery in Beulah.
