CARLISLE "SPOT" MARSHALL, 86, of Ewell, Smith Island, died Monday, April 21, 2008 at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury.
Born on Tylerton, Smith Island on November 14, 1921, he was a son of the late Watson and Mary Marshall. His wife, Lula R. Evans Marshall, died October 26, 2002.
A waterman and a US Navy World War II veteran, he was proud of his military service and enjoyed telling stories of his time in the Navy.
Devoted to his family, "Spot" enjoyed being at home. He loved to talk on the phone with his friends and enjoyed watching TV, especially wrestling, with his sons and grandsons. He was also very much a comedian who had a nickname for everybody he knew. He was truly liked by everyone who knew him.
He is survived by three children, Timothy W. Marshall of Ewell, Sheila Bradshaw and husband Roland "Pal" of Rhodes Point and Kip "Pee-Wee" Marshall of Ewell; four grandchildren, Timothy Marshall, Jr. of Ewell, Brent Bradshaw of Rhodes Point, Kristen Corbin and husband Bryan of Tylerton and Chad Bradshaw of Rhodes Point; one great-granddaughter whom he adored, Victoria Faith Corbin; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Carlisle Marshall, Jr., who was stillborn in 1962; and two brothers, Watson and Claude Marshall.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 24, 2008 at 2 PM at Ewell United Methodist Church on Smith Island. The Rev. Rick Edmund will officiate. Interment will be in the Ewell Church Cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday from 10-11 AM at Bradshaw & Sons Funeral Home in Crisfield and from 7-9 PM at the church on Smith Island.
