Carl R. Hirsch, 82, of Annemessex Ridge near Crisfield, died on Saturday, September 27, 2008 at Coastal Hospice at the Lake in Salisbury. He had been a resident of Crisfield for the past 16 years.
Born in Wilmington, DE he was the son of the late Edgar Hirsch and Ruth E. Van Sant Hirsch.
He graduated in 1944 from Conrad High School in Wilmington, and served two tours of service in the U.S. Air Force during W.W. II. He worked for the former Diamond State Telephone and Bell Atlantic retiring after 40 years of service. He worked his way up from a cable splicer to the management department in Philadelphia. After his retirement he enjoyed boating and wood working.
Surviving is his wife, Rita Hirsch of Crisfield; a son, Larry Hirsch and wife, Mary of Middletown, DE; two daughters, Linday McCoy and husband, Mike of Wilmington, and Wendy Smith and husband, Ray of Baltimore; 6 grandchildren, Heather, Stephanie, Shawn, Nicole, Melissa, and Polly; 2 great-grandchildren, Shane and Annabelle.
Memorial services will be held on Sunday, October 5, 2008 at 2:00 P.M. at the Bradshaw & Sons Funeral Home in Crisfield. Pastor Bill Davis will officiate. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the Immanuel Church Fellowship Hall in Crisfield.
