Calvin B. Johnson, Sr., 97, of Marion Station, died Friday, February 24, 2017 at Alice Byrd Tawes Nursing Home.
Born in Mt. Vernon, he was the son of the late Alfred and Lelia Taylor Johnson. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mildred F. Purcell Johnson in 1971 and his second wife, Peggy Fae Parks Johnson in 2006.
He was a farmer and maintenance worker retiring from the former Mrs. Paul's Kitchens and Campbell's Soup Company. He was a US Navy veteran of World War II, and attended Mariners United Methodist Church.
Mr. Johnson enjoyed staying active. He was able to drive until the age of 95 and worked on grasscutters until the age of 94. He loved watching Family Feud on TV. He also designed and made the Christmas lights that are hung every year in the City of Crisfield.
He is survived by his son, Calvin B. "C.B." Johnson, Jr. and wife Diana of Marion; his daughter, Mitchell Ann Hill of Crisfield; his step-daughters, Deborah Ennis and husband Dickie of Quantico and Dawn M. Crockett of Crisfield; his step-son, Darryl Mears and companion Bill Langkammer of Lewes; grandchildren, Angela Jones and Donna Jean Crockett; his step-grandchildren, Dawn Leslie Crockett, Will Betts and Nicole Bozman; 8 great-grandchildren; his good friends, Pal Brittingham and Jackie Ward; many nieces, nephews, and cousins; and a host of other friends. He is also survived by his loving cats, "Troubles" and "Wildcat".
Along with his parents and his first and second wives, he was preceded in death by one granddaughter, three great-grandchildren, and several brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 28, 2017 at 2 PM at Bradshaw & Sons Funeral Home where a viewing will be one hour prior. The Rev. Stephen S. Willing will officiate. Interment will be in Sunnyridge Memorial Park.
