Obituary
C. RALPH NELSON, 96, formerly of Crisfield, died Tuesday, December 7, 2010 at the home of his caregivers in Westover.
Born in Crisfield on June 27, 1914, he was a son of the late Charles Christopher and Hattie May Lawson Nelson. His wife, Mildred Lane Nelson died November 20, 1956.
A US Army World War II veteran, he was a retired janitor for the former C&P and Bell Atlantic Telephone Companies. He was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church in Crisfield and most recently attended Evangelical Wesleyan Church.
He is survived by a niece, Sheila Friedman of Wilmington; a sister-in-law, Eldora Lane Nelson of Crisfield; his devoted and loving caregivers, Esther and David Dixon and Andrew Stanley of Westover; and a host of special relatives and friends. He was also loved and cared for by the Figgs Family.
Along with his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Cecile Mae Ford and Elizabeth N. Olsen; one brother, John Earl Nelson; and one nephew, Ira "Yogi" Ford.
Funeral services will be held Friday, December 10, 2010 at 2 PM at the Evangelical Wesleyan Church in Crisfield where friends may call one hour prior to the service. The Rev. Terry Riggin will officiate. Interment with military honors will follow in Sunnyridge Memorial Park in Crisfield.
