C. EDWARD "ED" ADKINS, 75, of Kingston and formerly of Crisfield, died Wednesday, April 9, 2008 at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury.
Born in Crisfield on March 22, 1933, he was a son of the late Edward Adkins and the late Freida Nelson Sterling.
He was a maintenance employee for 21 years at Rubberset Corporation in Crisfield and after his retirement, worked four years in maintenance for Somers Cove Marina in Crisfield.
A United States Army veteran of the Korean War, Ed held memberships with the VFW, American Legion and Moose. He loved bowling, and was in a league for more than 20 years. He was a devoted husband and father.
He is survived by his wife, Doris Marie Adkins of Kingston; his daughter, Nina K. Adkins of Crisfield; his granddaughter, Lauren Chew of Crisfield; five step-children, Donna Milliner of Crisfield, Darlene Ward of Princess Anne, and Diana Parks and husband Matt, Raymond Pruitt and wife Carol, and Keith Pruitt, all of Westover; four step-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Jim Adkins and Fred Tyler.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 12, 2008 at 2 PM at the Crisfield Wesleyan Church where friends may call one hour prior. The Rev. Bob Daniels will officiate. Interment with military honors will follow in the American Legion Cemetery on Somerset Avenue in Crisfield.
