Obituary

Brion Perry Blades, Jr., 24, of Crisfield, went to be with the Lord on Monday, May 10, 2021.

Born in Salisbury May 17, 1996, he was the son of Brion Perry Blades, Sr. and Mary Annette Richards Blades.

He was a graduate of North Caroline High School Class of 2014 where he was a member of the football and wrestling teams.  He excelled at wrestling and on the mat he was known as the "Gentle Giant" or "Big Red".  During his senior year he was the Maryland State Division 1 Wrestling Champion which was the first for the North Caroline High School Wrestling Team.

Brion had a strong faith and enjoyed studying and learning about the word of God.  He was a member of Lighthouse Fellowship Church in Chincoteague and formerly attended Highway Holiness Church in Crisfield.

Brion loved cooking and was a cook at several of his family's businesses.  He also loved the beach and skateboarding and he had passions for singing, playing guitar, reading, and writing poems.

Most of all, Brion loved his family.  To them he was affectionately known as "Bubby" and he put great value in the relationships he had with his family members.  He loved family gatherings and was an amazing uncle and surrogate dad to his nephews and niece.

He is survived by his parents, Brion Perry Blades, Sr. and fiancé Jennifer and Mary Annette Richards Blades and husband Dan Nelson; his paternal grandmother, Sara Lynn Peebles Blades; his sisters, Amanda Lynn Richards, Gabriella Marie Blades, and Sara René  Blades; aunts and uncles, Jessi Blades (Shannon), Bethany Simmons (Jerald), Michelle Goldsborough (Billy), Martha Townsend (Robin), Ralph Richards, Jr. (Sharon), Nancy Fitzgerald (Mike), Doris Howlett (Tim), David Richards (Kim), Faith Daum (Rob), and Becky Whittington (King); nephews and nieces, Ray J., Kevin, Gabe, Kenna, and one on the way; and special cousins, Maelynn, Jerry, Thomas, Saige, Austin, Robbie, Ally, Zander, Sophia, Caroline, Zach, Stephanie, Samantha, R.J., Paul, Megan, Beth, Brittany, Timmy, Ben, Rebekah, Nathan, and Ethan.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Hubert Clyde Blades; and his maternal grandparents, Ralph Wesley Richards, Sr. and Gloria Ann Milbourne Richards.

A viewing will be Saturday, May 15, 2021 from 7-9 PM at Bradshaw & Sons Funeral Home in Crisfield.

Funeral services will be Sunday, May 16, 2021 at 3 PM at Living Hope Ministries Church in Marion where a viewing will be one hour prior.  Family members will officiate the service along with Pastors LeBron Palmer and Kevin Wilson.  Interment will follow in Sunnyridge Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to North Caroline High School Wrestling Team, 10990 River Road, Ridgely, MD 21660; or Lighthouse Fellowship Church, 6329 Maddox Blvd., Chincoteague, VA.
