Mr. Ward was born June 14, 1928, to the late Isaac Thomas and Emma Marie Adams Ward.

He joined the Navy in 1945 and retired after 22 years of service in 1967. He served in duty stations in New York, Hawaii, Japan, Germany, London and Washington, DC.

After retiring from the military, he embarked on a career in restaurant management in Annapolis and Ocean City.

Because of his love of his hometown and the Chesapeake Bay, he resettled in Crisfield, where he has resided for the past 30 years. He enjoyed boating and woodworking. His greatest pleasures in life were spending quality time with his family and traveling extensively for family visits.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Glenn Lawrence Ward; three brothers, John Irvin, Clyde E., and Gordon Thomas Ward Sr.; one sister, Stella F. Ward; and one grandson.

Survivors include his wife, Eleanor Katherine "Lonnie" Ward; two daughters, Jean Marie Ward-Smith of White Stone, Va. and Judith Anne Callahan of Arnold; one brother, Jackie Ward of Florida; three sisters, Helen Wilson of Crisfield, Mabel Twigg of Pittsville, and Nell Bennett of Mardela Springs; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, January 26, 2008 at 2:00 PM at the Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church in Crisfield. The Rev. Robert Daniels and Pastor Carol Carlson will officiate. Lay Leader will be Mr. Ralph Justice. A presentation of the flag will be performed by the American Legion Post # 16.
