Beverly Ann "Littlehawk" Council, 85, of Crisfield and formerly of Durham, NC, died Sunday, August 6, 2023 at Alice B. Tawes Nursing Home.

Born in Durham, she was the daughter of the late Robert Carey Council and Edith Hicks Howard.  She was a US Army veteran and was retired from the food service industry.

Beverly Littlehawk was very proud of her Native American Heritage and researched extensively for many historical societies including the Smithsonian Institute.  She enjoyed making Native American jewelry and attending Powwows, she was an animal lover, and she loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  She was also very active in her church, Living Hope Ministries of the Eastern Shore in Marion, MD.

She is survived by two sons, Cecil Johnson and wife Mary Jo of Timberlake, NC and Joseph Johnson of Durham, NC; two brothers, Robert Council and wife Joan of Durham and Jack Howard and wife Allyson of Raleigh, NC; grandchildren, William Brandon Johnson, Chad Tyler Johnson and wife Bailey, and Laura Jean Johnson; five great-grandchildren, Emberly, Akiya, Saylor Rose, Alexa Jean, and Charlie Marie; her caretaker and special friend, Leniya Stull and family of Crisfield; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a son, Robbie Poe.
