Betty L. Tyler, 86, of Crisfield, died Tuesday, August 12, 2014 at her home.
Born in Edgecomb County, North Carolina on June 20, 1928, she was a daughter of the late Harvey G. and Annie Cox Hathaway. Her husband of 59 years, Carl L. "Kie" Tyler, preceded her in death on July 22, 2002.
A homemaker, she retired from Rubberset Corp. in Crisfield after 23 years. She attended Christ Fellowship Bible Church in Marion.
She loved sitting on her front porch watching hummingbirds, working in her yard, cutting grass, flowers, and watching The Young and the Restless.
Most of all she loved spending time with her family. She loved to cook for them and all their friends. She also enjoyed going out to eat with them, especially to Tokyo Steakhouse. She was a caregiver to her grandchildren and great grandchildren which she loved. She enjoyed watching them play sports and was truly their best friend.
She is survived by two sons, Danny Tyler and wife Vera, and Harvey Tyler; a daughter, Ellen Ann Daisey and husband Asher, all of Crisfield; three grandchildren, Christen Leigh Tyler, Carl William Tyler and wife Lindsay, of Crisfield and Charles Danny "Charlie" Tyler and wife Joscelyne of Marion; three great-grandchildren, Danielle Nicole Burke, Carly Grace Tyler, and Owen Matthew Monroe; three "adopted" granddaughters, Naomi Barnes, and Carly and Cassidy Marshall; and many loving nieces and nephews in North Carolina and Maryland.
Along with her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Horace Hathaway, and three sisters, Doris Stroup, Jeanette Watson, and Elizabeth Edmondson.
Funeral services officiated by Rev. Steve Willing will be held Saturday, August 16, 2014 at 3 PM at Christ Fellowship Bible Church in Marion. A viewing will be held Friday evening from 7-9 PM at Bradshaw & Sons Funeral Home. Interment will be in Sunnyridge Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Crisfield Fire Department, P.O. Box 591, Crisfield, MD 21817; Marion Fire Department, P.O. Box 143, Marion, MD 21838; or Christ Fellowship Bible Church Building Fund, 5910 Crisfield Highway, Marion, MD 21838.
