Obituary

BENSON EWING "TUCKER" TAWES, 73, of Crisfield, died Saturday, January 31, 2009 at McCready Memorial Hospital in Crisfield.

Born in Crisfield on March 1, 1935, he was a son of the late Vernon E. and Cecil Clark Tawes.

He was a retired carpenter/building contractor who was very well-known for his passion of cabinet making. A United States Air Force veteran, he attended First Baptist Church in Crisfield, was past-president of the Crisfield Kiwanis Club, and recently attended his 55th Year Crisfield High School Class Reunion.

A devoted family man, he is survived by his loving wife of almost 54 years, Barbara "Bobbi" Adams Tawes of Crisfield; his son, Jeff Tawes and wife Cindy of Port Norris, New Jersey; his daughter, Robbin Schultz and husband Jack of Salisbury; his grandchildren, Brittany, Nicole, Jacob and Ruby Tawes, all of Port Norris, and John "Jay" Paro, III of Crisfield; his step-grandchildren, Troy Schultz and wife Nicole and their children, Carson and Cole Schultz, of Middle River, Maryland and Wendy Perdue and her children, Alec and Hunter Perdue of Salisbury; his brothers, Vernon E. Tawes, Jr. and wife Irmgard of Princess Anne and Linwood Tawes and wife Flora of Crisfield; his twin sister, Doris McDorman and husband Jerry of Crisfield; his sisters, Betty Sterling and Mary Francess Elliott, both of Princess Anne; his special sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, JoEllen and Raymond Shanks of Marion Station and Karen Elliott of Crisfield; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters, Lawrence, Randall, Benny, Vernon, and Doris Tawes and Idella Tyler.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 4, 2009 at 2 PM at Bradshaw & Sons Funeral Home in Crisfield where friends may call two hours prior to the service. Pastor Jack "Tad" Maroon will officiate. Interment with military honors will follow in Sunnyridge Memorial Park in Crisfield.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are requested to be sent to Lower Somerset County Ambulance and Rescue Squad, LSCARS, P.O. Box 406, or Crisfield Fire Department, P.O. Box 591, or First Baptist Church, 1 S. Somerset Avenue; all Crisfield, Maryland 21817.
