Benjamin Roebuck, 88, of Crisfield, died Monday, January 5, 2015 at Alice Byrd Tawes Nursing Home in Crisfield.
Born in Motherwell, Scotland on April 9, 1926, he was the son of the late Robert and Annie Crawford Roebuck.
He was a retired sales manager at Rubberset Corp. in Crisfield working 43 years before his retirement. He also worked part-time at Eastern Shore Lanes Bowling Alley in Pocomoke.
A US Navy World War II veteran, he was a member of Pocomoke Elks, Stanley Cochrane Post #16 American Legion in Crisfield, and the Crisfield Country Club. He was a member of Immanuel United Methodist Church where he was active in the United Methodist Men.
He loved bowling, going to the movies and working in his rose garden. He also enjoyed baseball, and softball, and coached Little League for many years.
He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Elizabeth "Betty" McGowan Roebuck; two daughters, Leslie Berryhill and husband James of Pocomoke and Robin White and husband Jeffrey of Delmar, MD; four grandchildren, Robert James Roebuck of Pocomoke, Staci Brittingham and husband Keith of Crisfield, Jennifer White of Delmar, and Kenneth White of Delmar; two great-granddaughters, Rachel Guy of Crisfield and Lauren Roebuck of Virginia; three step-sons, Thomas Brice of Crisfield, Nelson Brice and wife Debbie of Crisfield and their children Corlie Brice and Andrew Brice, and John Brice and wife Janice of Woodpine, MD; a sister, Katherine Hudak of Clifton, NJ; and many nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Agusta M. Roebuck on January 7, 1972; and his sister, Nan Folger.
A memorial service with military honors will be held Sunday, January 11, 2015 at 2 PM at Bradshaw & Sons Funeral Home. The Rev. Paul Holland and the Rev. Steve Willing will officiate. Urn interment will be at a later date in Pitts Creek Cemetery in Pocomoke.
