Beatrice Joyce Evans Lawson, affectionately known as "Bea Jo", 80, of Annapolis and formerly of Crisfield and Smith Island, passed away on Friday, November 12, 2021 at Anne Arundel Medical Center.

Born in Crisfield on April 11, 1941, and raised on Smith Island, she was a daughter of the late Clarence "Bus" Evans and Lela Ruth Jones Evans. Her husband of 39 years, Jerry R. Lawson, preceded her in death on September 22, 2002.

Bea Jo was a graduate of Crisfield High School and retired from Rubberset Corp. after working 38 years. She also helped Michael Corbin with his seafood business and helped run his former store, Rustic Charm.

She loved her family and friends immensely and lived for the laughs and good times shared with them. She also loved to travel.

She is survived by her daughter, Lisa DeVito and husband Mike of Annapolis; grandchildren, Olivia Landon/Louis Hickman, John Dominic Mori, Jr., Rhett Mori, and MaKenzie Mori; great-grandchildren, Little Louis Hickman, Adrianna Handy, Jonathon Handy, and Layla Hickman; nephew, Clarence "Bussie" Smith/Stephany; niece, Ruth Ann Landon/Chris; great-niece and nephews, Trent Laird, Chris Landon, Jr., Alexis Bysheim/Christopher, Brandi Scheper/Mark, Jaclyn Wink/CJ, Rev. Jim Evans/ Melissa, and Toni Daugherty/Lewis; and many, many cousins and special friends too numerous to mention by name.  Also surviving are her doggie, Sophia, and her kitten, Bella.

Along with her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a sister, Patsy Lee Smith; and a nephew, Stephen Smith.

Funeral services will be held at Somerset Free Methodist Church in Crisfield on Tuesday, November 30, 2021 at 2 PM with Rev. Jim Evans and Rev. LeBron Palmer officiating. A viewing will be one hour prior to the service and interment will follow at Sunnyridge Memorial Park.
