BARBARA ELLEN SWIFT, 65, of Princess Anne and formerly of Crisfield, died Sunday, November 2, 2008 at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury.

Born in Pocomoke City on November 17, 1942, she was a daughter of the late Francis and Mae Northam Powell.

She was a homemaker and a graduate of Pocomoke High School's Class of 1960.

A devoted wife, mother and grandmother, she is survived by her husband of 15 years, John D. "Frog" Swift, Jr. of Princess Anne; five children and their spouses, Linda and Wayne Steele of Eden, Robert Lee, III and Amy Worth, and Paul and Tonia Worth, all of Salisbury, and John D., III and Crystal Swift and Annette and Jed Humphreys, all of Marion Station; 11 grandchildren, Jeffrey and Justin Steele, Shannon Crothers and husband Robbie, Robert Lee, IV, Rebekah, MacKenzie, Joshua, Faith and Tasha Worth, and Patrick and Ryan Swift; two sisters, Alice Lee Melvin of Pocomoke City and Geraldine Probert and husband Bill of Jacksonville, Florida; a brother, Billy Powell and wife Sharon of Salisbury; a sister-in-law, Etta Powell and Brad of Stockton; and several nieces and nephews.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson, David Worth in 1992, and a brother, Lester Powell.

Friends may call Wednesday evening, November 5, 2008 from 6-8 PM at Bradshaw & Sons Funeral Home in Crisfield where funeral services will be held Thursday, at 2 PM. The Rev. Bob Daniels will officiate. Interment will be in Sunnyridge Memorial Park in Crisfield.
