BARBARA ANN SMITH WELLS, 75, of Seaford, and formerly of Queens, New York, Orlando, Florida and Rhodes Point, Smith Island, died Tuesday, September 22, 2009 at Nanticoke Memorial Hospital.
Born on Smith Island, October 10, 1933, she was a daughter of the late Richard and Clara Bruce Smith. Her husband, Thomas Wells, preceded her in death on June 14, 2004. She had been making her home in Seaford for the past 20 years.
She was retired co-owner and bookkeeper of the former Wells Landscaping, which she owned along with her late husband. She was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church on Rhodes Point. She loved cats, shopping, especially flea markets, and cooking for family gatherings.
She is survived by her daughter, Denise M. Snell and husband William of Seaford; two brothers, Allan Smith and wife Hester of Tylerton and Jerry Smith and wife Mattie of Rhodes Point; one sister, Betty Rae Tyler and husband Gladston of Ewell; six grandchildren, Jacqueline Norris, Jason Norris and wife Katherine, Michael Snell, Bruce Snell, Gene Snell and Dean Snell; five great-grandchildren, Jason Norris, Jr., Jazmine Snell, Sasha Norris, Allyssa Norris, and Olivia Snell, and one great-grandson on the way; and several nieces and nephews.
Along with her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Erma Marshall.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 26, 2009 at 2 PM at Bradshaw & Sons Funeral Home in Crisfield where friends may call one hour prior. The Rev. Rick Edmund will officiate. Interment will follow in Sunnyridge Memorial Park. Friends are asked to join the family following the interment at Maho's Restaurant in Crisfield.
