Obituary

Barbara "Bobbi" Riggin Stewart, 90, beloved wife of the late John "Jack" Stewart, passed away on May 16, 2020 at Middlesex Hospital in Middletown, CT.

Bobbi was born in Crisfield, MD on October 24, 1929. She was the daughter of late Clarence "Putty" and Mildred Lucy Ward Riggin of Sackertown Road in Crisfield.

Bobbi worked at Aberdeen proving grounds where she met Jack and were married there. After living in Spokane, WA, Jack and Bobbi moved to Middletown, CT and then to Portland where they built their house and raised a family. She worked many years at Garvin Ceramics where she taught classes. She was a Cub Scout den mother for four years and was active in the Jr. Womens club and local garden clubs, all the while, juggling the task of raising two boys.

She always decorated the house beautifully for every holiday and we all have fond memories of Christmastime there. She was an outstanding cook who prepared great meals for the family and could throw a party at the house for neighbors and friends flawlessly. One of her signature dishes was "Chicken Barbara" stuffed with smoked ham and boursin cheese with a sherry mushroom sauce, a family favorite.

The family moved to Germany in the early 70's when Jack, who worked for Combustion Engineering at the time, was contracted to work on a project with Siemens Corporation. It was a fantastic adventure for all of us.

Mom loved to go back home to Crisfield in the summer to be with family and friends while we stayed in Ocean City or Ocean Pines and spent time with the whole family. She will surely be missed, but we all know that she will always be in our heart and souls.

She is survived by two sons, Kevin Raymond Stewart and Keith Philip Stewart, along with six grandchildren, Kaitlyn, James, Ryan, Kylie, Patrick, and Brianna Stewart, as well as two great-grandchildren, Taylor Lagassey and Scout Adelaide Dibble. Her brother, Phil Riggin, is her lone surviving sibling.

Along with her husband, Bobbi is predeceased by her first son, James, and by her sisters, Janet Blades, Margaret Parks, Dolly Miller, Elestine Riggin, Dot Marshall, Frances Sterling, and Joy Dize.

Funeral services officiated by Rev. Jim Riley, Jr. will be held at Bradshaw & Sons Funeral Home on Friday, May 22, 2020 at 2 PM where a viewing will be one hour prior. Interment will follow in Sunnyridge Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to American Cancer Fund, PO Box 7262, Hillsborough, NJ  08844-7262.
