Obituary

Augustus "Gus" Ward, 77, of Crisfield, died Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at his home.

Born in Crisfield January 5, 1936, he was a son of the late Lincoln and Frances Cox Ward.

A United States Navy veteran of the Korean War, he was a waterman and also worked in plumbing. He was a member of the Crisfield Wesleyan Church.

He loved gardening and often gave his produce away to friends and loved ones. He enjoyed his family, and especially loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Gus is survived by his wife of 49 years, Sarah Harris Ward of Crisfield; six children, Lisa Tyler of Crisfield, Tina Kovach and husband Darin of Salisbury, Augustus "Gussie" Ward, Jr. and wife Tracy of Crisfield, Renee Mears and husband Mike of Pocomoke, Dale Ward of Crisfield and Joseph Ward of Crisfield; a brother, Lincoln "Sonny" Ward, Jr. of Florida; six sisters, Clairabell Mancina of California, Lillian Morgan of Crisfield, Frances Williams of Crisfield, Linda Bailey of Saxis, Gwen Chapman of California and Phyllis Nelson of Crisfield; 16 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Thomas and George Ward.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 2, 2013 at 2 PM at the Crisfield Wesleyan Church where a viewing will be held one hour prior. Rev. Robert Daniels will officiate. Interment with military honors will follow in Sunnyridge Memorial Park.
