IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Anthony "Tony"
Sterling
April 23, 1956 – June 4, 2024
Anthony Leon "Tony" Sterling, 68, of Marion Station, MD, was called Home by God on Tuesday, June 4, 2024 from his home.
Born in Crisfield on April 23, 1956, he was a son of Betty Tawes Sterling, and the late Leon "Flea Bait" Sterling.
Tony, as his friends and family knew him, was a son, husband, father, and grandfather. A 1974 graduate of Crisfield High School, he was a retired Carpentry Union worker, and an avid waterman.
Tony had a smile that was contagious, loving eyes that gave you comfort, and a heart of gold. He never met a stranger and was always there for people with his words of comfort and encouragement. If you had the pleasure of knowing him, you loved him. His hugs made everything in your life right again.
Tony loved his family more than words could describe. He always made time for them and taught them so much: words of wisdom to live by, how to love, how important family is, and how precious this life is. To his family he was their world. "We will forever miss you, Daddy."
Tony is survived by his mother, Betty Sterling; his wife of 48 years, Becky Sterling; his only child, Chasity Sterling and her husband Matt; three grandchildren, Matthew, Micah, and Caleb Sterling; two brothers, David Dize and his wife Barbara and their family, and Vernon Sterling and his family; a sister, Dixie Thomas and her husband Johnny and their family; sisters-in-law, Joyce Howard and family and Tammy Abbott and family; Chasity's best friend, Jennifer Parks, who was like a daughter to him; many nieces and nephews; and his best friend and furbaby, Willie Nelson Sterling.
In addition to his father, Leon, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, and a very special niece, Jennifer Dize.
He was a member of the Crisfield Church of God where a memorial service will be held on Friday, June 7, 2024 at 2 PM. A visitation will be one hour prior. Son-in-law, Matthew Sterling and Pastor Michael Vaughan will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Tony may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, www.stjude.org
