Obituary

Anna M. Lewis, 94, of Crisfield, passed away Sunday, May 17, 2015 at her home with her daughter by her side.

Born in Crisfield on February 11, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Norman and Bessie Jane Tyler Maddox. Her husband, Edward S. Lewis preceded her in death in January of 1970.

A graduate of Crisfield High School Class of 1937, she was Co-Valedictorian and the last surviving member of her class. She worked as a bookkeeper for N.R. Coulbourne Seafood and later, worked in the office at Rubberset Company for 10 years.

Anna was a life-long member of Asbury United Methodist Church where she was active in the Dorcas Circle and the United Methodist Women. She did beautiful cross-stitch, was an avid follower of the news, enjoyed doing word puzzles, cooking, trying new recipes, and was a chocoholic. She was known to have the best potato salad and cream of crab soup. Most of all, she loved her family and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She always told them they could do anything they set their minds to and encouraged them to follow their dreams and passions in life. Anna was thoughtful and easy going, and will be missed by everyone who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her daughters, Toni L. Mrohs and Barbara L. Outten and her husband, Les, all of Crisfield; one sister-in-law, Joan Maddox of Salisbury; 3 grandchildren, Michael Mrohs and wife, Lori of Salisbury, Robbie Mrohs and wife, Jennifer, and Kristen and her husband, Edwin Miles, all of Crisfield; six great-grandchildren, Amanda and Connor Mrohs of Salisbury, Anabelle and Theron Mrohs of Crisfield, and Adriana and Alayna Miles, of Crisfield; her special caregiver, Louise Wooster of Crisfield; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Robert "Bobby" Maddox, Weldon Maddox, and Henry Norman Maddox, Jr., and a great-granddaughter, Caroline Elizabeth Mrohs.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 20, 2015 at 2 PM at Asbury United Methodist Church in Crisfield with a viewing one hour prior to the service. The Rev. Sterling Green and the Rev. Todd Hurley will officiate. Interment will follow in Sunnyridge Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to Coastal Hospice, P.O. Box 1733, Salisbury, MD 21802-1733 or to Asbury United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, c/o Jane Riggin, 26128 Byrd Road, Crisfield, MD 21817.
