Obituary

Allen W. "Froggy" Somers, 94, of Crisfield, died Sunday, September 16, 2012 at his home.

Born in Crisfield on September 6, 1918, he was a son of the late Allen W. and Kate E. Nelson Somers. His wife, Mary Virginia Riggin Somers, preceded him in death in 1966.

He was a retired waterman, working on buy boats and crabbing. He also was a barrel maker. He was a US Army veteran of World War II, and a member of the Stanley Cochrane Post #16 American Legion in Crisfield. He enjoyed reading and watching TV, especially westerns.

He is survived by two daughters, Mary Ruth Garrison and Margaret Dize and husband Bill; a daughter-in-law, Bobbie Jean Somers; seven grandchildren, Pam Garrison, Scott Garrison, Sandy Landon and husband Mark, Tina Dize, Mary Bradshaw and husband Stevie, Tammy Tull and husband Fred, and Allen Somers; ten great-grandchildren, Blair Landon, Stephanie Ward and husband Chad, Stacy Diggs and wife Courtney, Steven Diggs and wife Lauren, Aaron Garrison, Megan Dize and boyfriend Jason Evans, Noah Ford, Karri Barnes, Kristy Compton and husband Joey, and Brooke Bradshaw; ten great-great-grandchildren, Connor and Austin Ward, Christian, Caden, Briell, Madison, Micah, and Ada Diggs, and Will and Ava Evans; and many nieces and nephews.

Along with his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by his son, Allen "Boh" Somers; his son-in-law, Jesse Garrison; a grandson, Stuart Garrison; a great-granddaughter, Stacey Jean; five sisters, Mary Ellen Collins, Lucy Turack, Jeanette Abbott Dickerson, Anne Baumeister, and Evelyne Parker; and two brothers, Johnny Evans and Buster Somers.

Friends may call Thursday, September 20, 2012 at Bradshaw & Sons Funeral Home in Crisfield from 11 AM – 12 PM. A graveside service with military honors will follow at 2 PM in the American Legion Cemetery. The Rev. Bob Daniels will officiate.
