Allan Robin, 78, of Crisfield, passed away on September 14, 2017 at McCready Memorial Hospital.
Born June 28, 1939 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, his father was Frank Robin, and mother, Esther Robin.
He joined the US Navy right out of high school where he met his wife, Mary Jo Thornton. His love for her was without end. His wife preceded him in death on April 25, 2007, and they were married close to 50 years.
He was a U.S Navy Veteran; an Able Bodied Seaman in the Merchant Marine. He worked for United States Steel as a Crane Operator. In 1970, he moved to Israel where he worked as a Crane Operator and Automobile Mechanic. He came back to Crisfield, MD in 1976 and worked as an Automobile Mechanic, was a Service Manager for Good News Honda, a Maryland State Automobile Inspector, and an ASE Certified Master Auto Mechanic. In 1995, he started working for the Maryland Department of Corrections as a Correctional Officer. He retired from the Division of Corrections.
He was an avid motorcycle enthusiast and loved to ride. He was a good cook and at one time rode horses. He had a travel trailer and loved to go on trips with his wife. His hobby was metal working and welding. He was a member of the Crisfield Elks Lodge #1044 and the American Legion Post #16.
He is survived by his children, Marjorie Fleetwood of Florence, Arizona, Lillian Steele and husband Ted of Linden, VA, and Karen Raimundo and husband Aubrey Fletcher of Marion Station, MD; sisters, Sandy Amato of Columbus, NJ and Anne Klepper of Philadelphia, PA; grandchildren, Tim Raimundo and fiancé Jess Levin of Washington, D.C. and Sean Schultz and wife Tasha of Chesterfield, VA; and great-grandchildren, Niah Schultz and Lucas Schultz.
Along with his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a sister, Marilyn Lebowitz.
Funeral services will be held at Bradshaw & Sons Funeral Home on Tuesday, September 19, 2017 at 2 PM where a visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Rabbi Arnold Bienstock will officiate. Interment will follow at Asbury Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society Maryland Chapter, 100 Painters Mill Road Suite 800, Owings Mills, MD 21117.
