AGNES MAE HARRIS, 85, of Crisfield, died Tuesday, July 22, 2008 at Alice Byrd Tawes Nursing Home in Crisfield where she had been a resident for the past seven years.
The daughter of the late Joseph and Lucille Wheeler Taylor, she was born July 4, 1923, the first baby born in McCready Memorial Hospital in Crisfield. Her husband, Otis W. "Ditty" Harris, died January 1, 1989.
A graduate of Crisfield High School, she was a seamstress at the former Crisfield Cap Factory, and was co-owner with her husband of the former City Restaurant in Crisfield.
She was a member of Faith Fellowship Assembly of God, Crisfield Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, and the former Chesapeake Chapter #28 Order of Eastern Star. She loved to crochet and knit, and was very proud to be featured in numerous ads and brochures for the Tawes Nursing Home New Building Project.
She is survived by three devoted daughters and their husbands, Linda and Kenneth Byrd, Sarah and Gus Ward and Hope and Jimmy Davis, all of Crisfield; 16 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Along with her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Joseph B. Taylor, Jr.
Funeral services will be held Friday, July 25, 2008 at 2 PM at Faith Fellowship Assembly of God in Crisfield where friends may call one hour prior to the service. Pastor Alton Hinson and The Rev. Bob Daniels will officiate. Interment will follow in Sunnyridge Memorial Park in Crisfield.
