Ethel "Babe" Collins Sanders Sweep, 73, of Crisfield, Maryland and formerly of Beckley, West Virginia, passed away Wednesday, May 9, 2012 at her residence following a long illness. Born November 24, 1939 in Keith, WV, she was the daughter of the late Bert and Afton Broom Collins. Babe was a graduate of Stoco High School, and worked there as the school secretary for many years. After moving to Maryland she attended Howard Community College where she was an honor graduate receiving her degree in Business Administration. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brother James Bert Collins, and her sister Joetta Reges. Survivors include her husband, Jim Sweep; two daughters, Carmelia Sanders and Lisa Warford; four granddaughters, Shannon Buchler, Amanda Gordy, Bethany Warford, and Cassandra Warford; four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Helen "Tippy" Goracoff, and Leecreedia Collins Lowe; and a host of nieces, nephews and loved friends. Services for Babe will be held on Tuesday, May 15, 2012 at 7pm in the chapel of Blue Ridge Funeral Home in Beckley, WV with her brother-in-law Pastor John Lowe officiating. Burial will be at 11:00 am on Wednesday May 16, 2012 in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. Friends may gather with the family Tuesday evening from 5-7pm at the funeral home. Local arrangements were handled by Bradshaw & Sons Funeral Home in Crisfield.
